Bullet Bras For ‘Sweater Girls’

If you want a vintage 1950s silhouette, a bullet bra is a must.

This was a classic look during the era of the 1940s and 50s. In fact, many legendary movie stars like Lana Turner and Jayne Mansfield sported them often. These bras are perfect for chests large and small, managing to provide maximum lift and extreme shaping without the need for an underwire. You can’t pull off a classic “sweater girl” look without one!

Much more, including video and photos, after the jump.

Of course, the real bullet bra dilemma these days is where to find one.

The good news? There’s no need to search high and low in vintage resale shops anymore! Now there are a handful of companies manufacturing new bras with classic “bullet” shaping. Here are the best of the best:

The Maitresse bra from What Katie Did is a real show-stopper, especially when paired with their range of vintage-style garter belts, panties, and girdles.

The Bettie Page lingerie line also produces several excellent bullet-style bras, including this sensational one in leopard print.

Lingerie designer La Maison De Luxe offers some colorful choices, including bright red and bubblegum pink.

Secrets in Lace has many wonderful styles and colors too, including the “Coquette” in white or black satin (pictured below), The “Vibrant” bullet bra in beautiful purples and greens, and even a sheer bullet bra for the more daring.

So, what do you think? Do you already own one of these bras? Is this style a keeper or are these undergarments too extreme for modern wear?
